Deutsche Flaggen - Geschichte Tradition Verwendung
Germany's history of the past 200 years in the reflection of its flags: Napoleon's continuing oppression of the European peoples, Particularly of Prussia, finally demanded out the liberation war from 1812 to 1814, and with the freedom and the quest for national symbols, the story of the German national colors begins. The flag of black, red and gold as the tricolor flag, borrowed from the colors of the uniforms of the legendary Lützow Jaeger and thought within the meaning of the French revolutionary ideals freedom, equality and fraternity, first flew over the barricades of 1848. But with the founding of the Imperial German Empire in 1871 Black-White-Red should win the upper hand. But the sinking of the Empire in the destructive wake of the First World War in 1918 discredited the Black-White-Red. Thus, a new beginning of the German Reich as the Weimar Republic only in black, red and gold could happen. But the burden of old ghosts let fail the young republic, including the dispute over the true German flag colors. By breaking all traditions, the year1933 began under the swastika, which developed the trauma of German history in general. After the Second World War are black, red and gold for both German states are the national colors, but only since the German reunification a partly exasperated guided flag dispute of about 200 years is finally over. The frequent change of Germany's national colors in the 19 and 20 Century, coupled with the change of state symbols of the period through colors, shapes and characters, is here provided with comprehensive and insightful comments, not just through stories about the history of German national flag, but also visualized by hundreds of colorful depictions of the various flags, city flags, flags of the Armed Forces, banners, pennants, badges and insignia, etc., with details of appearance, proportions and use. The different flags of the former GDR are listed here as well as the flags of the German federal countries. A glossary of flag related terms resolves this very exciting and informative volume.
