NEW! Deutsche Gewehrgranaten und Gewehrgranatgeräte bis 1945 - Michael Heidler
It is a widespread misconception that rifle grenades were used for the first time in the 1st World War. In literature its occurrenceas is usually discribed as a reaction to the war of position along with its trench warfare and the appearance of the first tanks. These factors have certainly caused a surge in development - the principle, however, to shoot large-caliber explosive shells with guns, goes back much further - even up to 1200 in China. No wonder that in the years before World War 1 already in many armies in the world one could find bar rifle grenades. This richly illustrated volume is devoted to the German developments and their use in the course of the two World Wars. The author draws in great detail a line from the rifle grenades, rifle grenade device for the various weapons that were used, up to the ammunition. Many images, some in color, of original weapons, ammunition and accessories as well as meaningful detail pictures or cross sections of individual components, historical drawings, contemporary photographs - including many rare, never before published - round out the issue and help to assign previously unknown accessory, and thus to solve some puzzles. This book is the so far most detailed work on this subject available on the market. Author: Michael Heidler
